Game Description

In El Grande, players aim to gather as much influence as possible in the regions of medieval Spain by strategically placing their caballeros (followers). Each round, players select an action card that determines their available actions and turn order. They then place their caballeros in various regions on the board. At the end of each round, influence is counted in the regions, and the player with the most caballeros in a region scores points.

Players must carefully choose actions that benefit them while ensuring they are not outmaneuvered by others in key regions. The Grande Castle adds an additional layer of tactical depth, where players can secretly place caballeros to dominate a region at the right moment.

Gameplay

In El Grande, players compete for control over various regions by strategically placing caballeros. The game proceeds as follows:

  • Each round, players play a card to determine their turn order and execute the associated action.
  • Players place their caballeros in different regions on the board, aiming to gain the majority for points.
  • The Grande Castle allows for secret placement of caballeros, which can be deployed later to claim unexpected majorities.
