Game Description

In Carcassonne, players collectively build an ever-expanding landscape by drawing and strategically placing tiles. The tiles feature roads, cities, monasteries, and fields, and players must choose wisely where to place their tiles. They can then deploy their followers to earn points by claiming areas. Once an area (city, road, or monastery) is completed, points are counted, and the followers return to the player.

The game is easy to understand but offers plenty of variety and strategic choices, such as when and where to deploy your followers. It revolves around planning the right moves and determining the best time to complete an area.

Gameplay

In Carcassonne, players take turns placing tiles and followers to build and claim areas. The game proceeds as follows:

  • Each player draws a tile and adds it to the existing landscape, ensuring that the new tile fits next to the already placed tiles.
  • The player can then choose to place a follower (meeple) on the newly placed tile, claiming an area (a road, city, monastery, or field).
  • Once a city, road, or monastery is completed, points are counted, and the player retrieves their follower. Fields are scored at the end of the game.
  • The game ends when all tiles have been placed. The player with the most points wins.

The game offers many tactical decisions, such as blocking opponents or optimizing your own points by strategically placing tiles and followers.
