Game Description
Arthropods immerses you in a vibrant world of insect colonies and strategic challenges. With four unique game modes, this game offers a versatile experience that appeals to both beginners and seasoned players. Each game revolves around building and expanding your colony using hexagonal tiles, but each introduces its own twist with distinct rules and varying levels of difficulty. From gathering pollen as industrious bees to digging tunnels as clever ants, Arthropods offers endless tactical possibilities. Below, you can discover more about the four game modes:
Gameplay Description
Happy Honey Beez
This is the simplest game within the world of Arthropods, perfect for beginners or a relaxing session. Each player starts with a queen and three worker bees in hand. On your turn, you can place one to four hexagonal tiles on the board to build a beehive and score points.
Worker bees play a crucial role: they collect pollen from meadow tiles, which you can then convert into honey by transporting it to a honey chamber. Honey not only earns extra points but also strengthens your strategy. This game focuses on maintaining an overview, building efficiently, and making smart decisions with your workers.
Knights in Buzzing Armor
This variant builds on Happy Honey Beez by adding a challenging tactical layer. In addition to gathering honey, you now use it to care for eggs, allowing you to expand your bee colony.
Drones are introduced in this mode. They can fend off enemy bees and serve as a last resort for defense. This makes the bees on the board essential—not only for scoring points but also for sabotaging your opponents. The added dynamics make every turn more intense and demand greater strategic insight.
Antropolis
With Antropolis, we step into the world of ants, offering a slightly more complex gaming experience. While the mechanics may feel familiar, this variant provides a completely different challenge. The goal remains to score the most points, but this time through building both nests and tunnels.
This mode includes a greater variety of hexagonal tiles, enabling you to place multiple tiles per turn or even buy additional tiles. Worker ants collect food on forest tiles and maintain the tunnels you build, while the queen scores points by claiming strategically placed nests. The game requires a balance between building, gathering, and planning.
Supersize Colony
For the most experienced players, Supersize Colony offers the ultimate challenge. In this advanced variant, all ants come into play, and you can immediately use larvae once they’re fed—no need to wait for them to hatch. You can transform them directly into soldiers or workers.
As in Antropolis, workers are essential for gathering food, but they also play a vital role in caring for your larvae. Soldiers protect your workers from enemies and are critical for expanding your colony through mating. This variant combines deep strategy with tactical flexibility, demanding sharp attention to opportunities and risks alike.
